"We Are Family" - Joni Sledge dies at 60

The Sledge sisters are in turmoil after one of the original members, Joni Sledge dies the bands representatives said in a statement on Saturday.

As of the moment there is no cause of death for the superstar, who was found by a friend at her home on Friday in Arizona

My heartfelt condolences to your family because they are my family too. We did something pretty amazing together https://twitter.com/SisterSledge_/status/840727477555195904

“The four of us had been in the music business for eight years and we were frustrated. We were saying: ‘Well, maybe we should go to college and just become lawyers or something other than music, because it really is tough,’” In an interview with the worlds best newspaper, The Guardian Jodi had said this.

Their biggest hit would strike one month later with their infectious super anthem which still has a place in today clubs and discos. The song celebrated their sisterhood  but not only that women the world over were able to celebrate empowerment and were able to unify like they had never been able to before.

The Sledge sisters had another hit with a cover of Mary Wells' "My Guy"

They last performed together in October for a concert. Joni leaves behind an adult son, her sisters, plus other relatives. Not only that she leaves behind a great legacy. Joni Sledge of the Sledge Sisters, we salute you.
